The Mask of Deception

The closer and more open you are to an individual that is when it becomes easier for that person to hurt you. The moment you let your guard down they will use the things closest to you to harm you for their own gains. Do we really know each other the way we think we do? Or, is everyone wearing a mask of deception and act like the person that others want them to be? So many times the friends, spouse and even family members that we thought we knew and we kept so dear to our hearts turn out to be deceitful and malicious. We try to find individuals who we are similar with so that we can form a bond. However, how can we be our true selves to others when most of the time we are still trying to figure out who we are? The truth of the matter is that, if not everyone then most people have acted like someone that they are not just to try and fit in with a particular group of people. We are deceptive in our nature and whilst some people find themselves and try to avoid being deceptive, others will never find themselves and will continue to wear the mask of deception.
